PinkDrive in Eastern Cape this October
October 16 - October 20
PinkDrive will be offering their services to communities in the Eastern Cape during October. Communities from Jeffreys Bay, Humansdorp, Sea Vista, Clarkson and Kareedouw will receive PinkDrive’s services: mammograms, pap smears, clinical breast examinations, PSA testing as well as education regarding breast, cervical, prostate and testicular cancer.
This outreach and service offering is made possible by Cennergi, Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm and Kouga Wind Farm. These Wind Farms are committed to their communities and the well being of the communities is their priority. By inviting PinkDrive to their communities, a platform is created for members of the various communities to be empowered with vital health messaging.
Noelene Kotschan, CEO and Founder of PinkDrive says that their organization is privileged to be providing their services to these communities. “As October marks world breast cancer awareness month, I cannot think of a better way to serve, as through this outreach and our cancer screening. We know that there is a need for our services in this province and we are looking forward to bringing our message of “Early Detection” to these communities” says Noelene. She sincerely thanks the three wind farms for affording PinkDrive the opportunity to work in their communities.
Community members will also have access to other health screening services such as HIV/AIDS screening, Tuberculosis screening and NCD screening supported by SANAC (South African National Aids Council and National Department of Health). A basket of health services within one engagement, an opportunity that every woman and man requires in order to sustain good lifestyles and a health nation.

Cennergi (Pty) Ltd is a Southern African based diversified Independent Power Producer (IPP). The shareholders in Cennergi are two large, listed companies with strong project – and operational track records. The shareholders are Exxaro Resources Ltd and The Tata Power Company Ltd, and they are using Cennergi to combine local experience with international power project experience.
The Project site is located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, south of the N2 national road and approximately 6km north of the coast and 30km north-west of Cape St Francis. The development site comprises of 7 adjacent land parcels and will comprise 31 Vestas (EPC and O&M Contractor) wind turbines with a 95.325MW capacity. The Project achieved financial close in June 2013 and is well into its 34 month construction period. Scheduled COD is anticipated for 25 March 2016.
About Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm:
Located between Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape, the Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm site spans 3700 hectares. The site’s optimal wind conditions, relatively flat topography, minimal environmental constraints and its close proximity to the 132kV Eskom grid line, make it an ideal wind energy resource.
Arising from the South African Government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPP), Jeffreys Bay Wind Farm signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement with Eskom as well as an Implementation Agreement with the Department of Energy.
The project reached Commercial Operations Date mid-2014, having started construction in December 2012. The wind farm supplies 460 000 MWh per year, enough clean, renewable electrical energy to meet the needs of 100 000 average South African households. The project effectively reduces annual carbon emissions by 420 000 tonnes and lifetime carbon emissions by 8 400 000.
About Kouga Wind Farm:
Kouga Wind Farm is a renewable energy project which makes the most of the fresh onshore breezes that sweep the Eastern Cape coastline of South Africa.
Situated approximately 70km southwest of Port Elizabeth – between Oyster Bay and St Francis Bay – the wind farm delivers 80 megawatts of grid-connected capacity in the quest to power the country’s low-carbon future.
According to the Department of Energy’s national integrated resource plan, the renewable energy sector is targeted to provide 42% of SA’s energy requirements by 2030, with wind farms playing an increasingly productive role.
Kouga Wind Farm alone mitigates over 300 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent in greenhouse gas emissions each year and helps to create a brighter, cleaner future for the surrounding communities.
